Four-day KidzArt Camp where children will create masterpieces and explore different mediums and art projects, and design their own artist portfolio to protect all of their creations. At week's end, they will display their artwork in a KidzArt Gallery Art Show. Recommended for ages 6-12. * Civil War Camp, location TBD, July 18-22, $200. This camp for boys and girls features instruction by Union and Confederate re-enactors on the daily life of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War, and highlights events and people of Loudoun County.
* Colonial Camp, location TBD, Aug. 15-19, $200. This camp lets children learn about life in colonial America first-hand
through conducting a simulated archaeological dig, learning about the time's cultures and customs, and debating matters of independence.
Galilee United Methodist Church will be hosting the Serengeti Trek Vacation Bible School. The dates and times will be the following July 11-15, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, for 3 years old-fifth graders, (3 years old by Sept. 30.) The main bible point is "Where Kids are Wild About God." * Forest Friends for children entering first and second grades in fall 2005. July 18-22, 1:15-4:15 p.m. Explore the plants and animals living in the woods and investigate what these organisms need to survive. Learn how to protect this environment and what it means to be a friend of the forest. Hikes, games, stories and crafts are all part of this session. Members $94; nonmembers: $121.
* Web Of Life for children entering third and fourth grades in fall 2005. Aug. 15-19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Learn how the plants, animals, water, soil and sun interact with one another and how the web of life is maintained, affected or broken. There are no auditions and every participant is encouraged to choose what he or she wants to do: music: singing, hand chimes and rhythm instruments; performance skills: drama and acting; choreography: movement and sign language; stagecraft: scenery painting. KidSpirit Triple Sports Day Camp for rising second graders-sixth graders, Aug. 1-5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Directed by The Leavening Agency, a Christian organization specializing in creative children's programming in churches and schools. All campers will work on basic basketball, soccer and volleyball skills and each participant can choose one of these sports for more advanced instruction.
