Neighborhood Marches

River Falls, Potomac Falls enjoy annual Fourth of July parades and picnics.

Summer Modelfino and Natalie Trone are both six-year veterans of the Potomac Falls Fourth of July scene. Both were decked out from head to toe in patriotic outfits at the picnic on Alloway Drive after the parade last Monday.

“It’s so fun to see everyone in the neighborhood,” said Summer, a rising seventh-grader at National Cathedral School. “There’s always great food.”

“It’s great that our neighborhood can organize something like this,” said Natalie, a rising Bullis sixth-grader.

Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department trucks lead the parade, with firefighter and volunteer spokesman Eugene Roesser driving his antique firetruck.

Across Falls Road, River Falls neighbors parade down a route that begins and ends at the River Falls Swim Club. Children cool off in the pool while parents catch up with long-time neighbors — and meet new ones.
