City emergency personnel conduct drill.

Members of the City of Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department participated in fire training on Thursday, June 30. The training took place at two abandoned apartment buildings off Yorktown Road, which will be destroyed to make way for new condominiums. Because Fairfax City does not often experience structure fires in its buildings, training like this is required once or twice a year to keep firefighters’ skills sharp.

"That’s why you train," said Assistant Fire Chief Tim Butters. "To be ready when you’re needed."
