In conjunction with National Hunger Awareness Day, Harris Teeter is planning a celebration to open its new Ashbrook location, 20070 Ashbrook Commons Plaza, Ashburn, on Wednesday, June 1, by making Loudoun Interfaith Relief Inc. a beneficiary of its food rescue program. The grocery store is also donating $10,000 from the proceeds of its annual golf tournament held in Charlotte, N.C., to Loudoun Interfaith Relief, a nonprofit food pantry located in Leesburg.

Procurement's Buyer/Seller Information Exchange sessions. The purpose of these informal sessions is to give area businesses the opportunity to meet the county's procurement staff and become familiar with the county's procurement process. The next round of sessions are as follows:

* Monday, Sept. 19, 10:30 a.m.

Broadlands Regional Medical Center (BRMC) is committing $8 million toward the construction of Belmont Ridge Road (Route 659) from Broadlands Boulevard to the Brambleton community. With this pledge, BRMC is helping close a funding gap to permit the widening of Route 659 from a two-lane road to a four-lane road from Broadlands Boulevard to just north of the Brambleton community.

Lindsay Automotive Group celebrated the grand opening of Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles with an evening reception in Sterling, May 19. Located just off Route 28, the stand-alone dealership features a two-story showroom, which

includes a trellis to display new cars, as well as a fountain and paved courtyard. The dealership was designed by Bill Rousos of Architects Practice Group in Alexandria. In addition, Lindsay Volkswagen boasts a 6,600-square-foot parts department and has more than 250 cars in stock. General manager Jerry Holloway will run the dealership.

Toll Brothers Inc. has announced the appointment of Jim Karafa to general manager of Belmont Country Club in Ashburn.

Karafa is a member of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) and a Class A member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA). Having worked most recently at Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickly, Pa., Karafa has also worked in various roles for many golf clubs, including Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia, Pa.; Pennhills Club in Bradford, Pa.; and Lincolnshire Country Club in Chicago, Ill.

Directly prior to joining Toll Brothers, Karafa served as the general manager and director of golf at Diamond Run Golf Club, home to a private Gary Player Signature Golf Course. Before that, Karafa worked at Aronimink Golf Club, voted a top 100 golf course by Golfweek magazine.

Karafa started his career in the golf industry during college, where he played in two NCAA Championship Tournaments. In addition, Karafa played on the Asian tour circuit for two years; the mini-tour circuit for six years; and finished on the PGA's Illinois, Philadelphia, and Western New York area top 10 money winnersâ list every year from 1986 through 1999.
