To the Editor:
As another election year passes and signs fill our roads and lawns, it is clear that it is once again time for us to make important decisions on who will be representing us.
As many in our community know, I am a strong supporter of ECHO [Ecumenical Community Helping Others], a charity dedicated to assisting those in our area who need a helping hand. I am not speaking on behalf of ECHO, but as a volunteer who is actively involved in their efforts.
Because our efforts have been growing, we recently kicked off a facility expansion that will provide additional capacity for family counseling and also more space to display clothing and household items for those we help. Of course, such an expansion does not come cheaply.
Del. Dave Albo (R-42) has secured $25,000 in state funding to help jump-start the expansion project. Dave referred to ECHO as the "face of compassion" in the Springfield community and he recognizes that this investment of state dollars will be paid back tenfold through ECHO's positive work in the Springfield area.
It is this kind of caring attention to our needs and ability to deliver for our community that really sets Dave apart. He has lived in our community for 34 years, and because of this, he is uniquely aware and responsive to our needs and concerns. If you have seen Dave's signs, you know that they say "one of us, working for us:" the perfect slogan for someone like Dave. I strongly urge you to vote for Dave Albo on Nov. 8.
