Deputy Raises Awareness

Sterling Middle School will host a Gang Awareness Presentation, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m.

Deputy Tom Alpy of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will talk to parents and community members about how to recognize gang activity and how to prevent it.

"I am going to talk about what parents, schools and businesses, basically the community, can do to report and prevent gang violence," Alpy said. "I will talk about Loudoun County gangs, graffiti, the FBI’s 2005 gang report and explain the gang task force."

The 45-minute presentation is open to parents and community members. Children are not allowed to attend.

"It is good information," Alpy said. "We want to make the community aware."

Spanish translation will be provided.
