Wesley Housing Development Corporation released more than 100 one- and two-bedroom condos for public purchase this weekend in Centreville. New stainless steel appliances, bathroom fixtures and full-sized washers and dryers were just a few of the amenities that attracted prospective homebuyers to Madison Ridge condos on Saturday and Sunday. The prices started at $225,000 for one-bedroom condos and $285,000 for two-bedrooms.

The condos are a result of a conversion being performed by Wesley Housing Development Corporation, a leading Northern Virginia non-profit developer that purchased the 17-year-old Madison Ridge Apartments in July for $34.5 million. Of the 216 units, 118 units are being converted to condos with significant upgrades, including wall-to-wall carpet and new kitchen cabinets and countertops. The remaining 98 units are being renovated and preserved as rental apartments, managed by CAPREIT. Current residents were given the option to reserve a condo for a special price in advance of the public release on Saturday. Twenty existing residents of Madison Ridge and nearby Lee Overlook have exercised this option.

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. has launched its 16th annual toy drive in support of the U.S. Marines Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Between Nov. 15 and Dec. 15, each of the company's 220 sales offices will collect toys for distribution to financially and/or physically disadvantaged children within their local communities. Long & Foster is requesting that the public drop off new, unwrapped toys at their neighborhood Long & Foster sales office prior to Dec. 15, to help bring joy to needy children this holiday season.

Once the toys are collected and presented to area Marines, they are distributed to local churches, social welfare agencies and to needy children throughout the region.

The Long & Foster Companies reported October 2005 total sales of $5 billion for the month, an increase of 8 percent over October 2004. It was the best October in the Company's 37-year history.

The numbers include: Long & Foster Real Estate Inc., with $3.3 billion in sales, up 3 percent on 8,920 property transactions; Prosperity Mortgage, the firm's mortgage affiliate, reported $406 million in volume of business, an increase of 37 percent over the previous year; Long & Foster Insurance, $330 million, an increase of 25 percent; and Mid-States Title, $887 million for the month, an increase of 10 percent over the previous October. These latter figures indicate the popularity of the firm's Prestige Partners affiliated businesses with Long & Foster's more than 15,000 Sales Associates.

James M. Weichert, president, announces the launch of Weichert, Realtors' 27th Annual Toy Drive.

Each of the company's sales offices will collect toys for distribution to financially and/or physically disadvantaged children within the local communities.

Weichert offices will accept donations of new unwrapped toys through December. Local charities that aid needy or underprivileged children will deliver the toys during the holidays. Last year more than 35,000 toys were distributed by charitable and service organizations in the communities Weichert serves.

To make a donation, drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any Weichert, Realtors office. Contact a local Weichert office.
