Remembering Veterans

The Alexandria Black History Museum held their annual Veterans Day program last Friday at 11 a.m. in the gallery on Wythe Street.

Sponsors of this year’s event included the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP, American Legion Post #129, Alexandria Lodge #48 I.B.P.O.E. of W., Friends of Freedman’s Cemetery, Society for the Preservation of Black Heritage and the Alexandria Black History Museum.

Presently, an exhibit of photographs by John Johnson is on display in the gallery. The photographs are produced from digital scanning of the original negatives and glass plates, which were created by Johnson in Lincoln, Neb., between the years of 1912 and 1915.
