David A. Wadley graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.He is the son of Jon A. and LaVonne Wadley of Vienna.

The cadet is a 2002 graduate of George C. Marshall High School, Falls Church, Va., and is currently attending Wake Forest University, Winton-Salem, N.C.

Marine Corps Pvt. Michael D. Ravenscroft, a 2004 graduate of Oakton High School, Vienna, Va., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C., which was designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Civilian Ian S. Malakoff, son of Susan L. Rattner of Great Falls, recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. Malakoff is currently attending Potomac School.

Nicholas A. Klein recently graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The primary focus of the course is to develop and evaluate each cadet's officer potential as a leader by exercising the cadet's intelligence, common sense, ingenuity and stamina. The cadet command assesses each cadet's performance and progress in officer traits, qualities and professionalism while attending the course. Klein, a 2001 graduate of Falls Church High School, is the son of Andrew L. and Mariette L. Klein of Vienna.

Civilian Stephen A. Brooks recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. During the program, Brooks was introduced to academy life through a regimen of academics, physical training, intramural sports, sailing and seamanship, as well as leadership training and social activities. Brooks, the son of Carla and Francis Brooks of Vienna, currently attends Paul VI Catholic High School.

Civilian Albert J. Perry recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. The summer seminar program was designed by the U.S. Naval Academy's office of admissions to give students a taste of the challenges and benefits of a Naval Academy education. Perry, who currently attends James Madison High School, is the son of Navy Capt. Kenneth M. and Alicia M. Perry of Vienna.

Civilian Katherine C. Gordon recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. The summer seminar program was designed by the U.S. Naval Academy's office of admissions to give students a taste of the challenges and benefits of a Naval Academy education. Gordon, who currently attends Flint Hill High School, is the daughter of Susan M. and James C. Gordon of Vienna.

Marine Corps Sgt. Edwin A. Vasquezgaitan and fellow Marines and Sailors took part in a community relations project during a port visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, while on a scheduled deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism while assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) homebased at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Volunteers worked at City of Hope, a women's shelter in Jumeirah. Vasquezgaitan is a 1996 graduate of McLean High School.

Air Force Cadet Kelly M. Arnts has completed Basic Cadet Training and earned the rank of cadet fourth class at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. Arnts is the son of Timothy and Kathleen Arnts of McLean, and a 2005 graduate of McLean High School.
