Absentee Polls Open for Voters

Voters who will be out of town or otherwise unable to get to the polls on Election Day (Nov. 8) can vote at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane. Polls are open from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays through Nov. 5.

Manning the polls in Mount Vernon is Harry Jackson, who is the Election Board chief for the Mount Vernon Satellite. Turnout has been light so far but election officials feel that it is worth their while to be there.

Voters can request an absentee ballot by mail or they can download a form from www.co.fairfax.va.us/eb/absentee.htm. Identification is required for voting. Voters can also vote at the Government Center in Fairfax or at six other satellite locations.
