Halley Elementary School presents a book fair to benefit Bolton-Edwards Elementary and Middle School in Bolton, Miss. The fair will run Oct. 31-Nov. 3, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. In addition, it will run Nov. 7, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and Nov. 8, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Call Kathy Brown at 703-551-5740.

W.T. Woodson Orchestra members Ellen Hurley (French horn), David Well (English horn), Wesley Thompson (string bass), Rachel Myers (cello) and Katie Myers (cello), were selected to audition for All State Orchestra. They auditioned on Sept. 26, at Langley High School.

Caitlin Halpern of Woodson High School was recently nominated for the William and Mary Leadership Award, which recognizes students who demonstrate leadership in the classroom and in their communities. Each spring, every high school in Virginia is invited to nominate one member of the junior class to receive the William and Mary Leadership Award.
