Students in the bands program at Robert E. Lee High School are hosting a car wash on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Brookfield Plaza Shell, 6620 Backlick Road in Springfield.

The Lee Chorus Boosters present the first annual Chorus Day Carnival, on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., in the Lee High School Cafeteria, 6540 Franconia, Springfield. Platters of BBQ Chicken or fish, burgers and hot dogs, cornbread and lots of sides will be available, along with sodas. Chorus students will be in charge of face painting, temporary tattoos, hair wraps, balloons, and games, all at affordable prices. Call 703-924-8342.

Lee High School's homecoming week is Oct. 17-21, with events all week, including a pep rally on Oct. 21. Activities after school on Oct. 21 include a Chili Cook Off, a Battle of the Bands and a parade through the local neighborhood including the marching band, the homecoming court and banners made by each organization.

Lake Braddock Secondary School students Jacqueline N. Chu, Lue-Yee Tsang and Haige Zhou were named semifinalists for the 2006 National Merit Scholarship Program.

West Springfield High School students Justin E. Cardinale and Kate E. Zavack were named semifinalists for the 2006 National Merit Scholarship Program.
