National Philharmonic welcomes pianist Philip Hosford to the Strathmore stage for a performance of Salieri's Piano Concerto No. 1. The winner of first or second prizes in 15 national and international competitions, Hosford is acclaimed the world over as an outstanding pianist of his generation. In a prelude to the 8 p.m. performance, National Philharmonic will present a pre-concert lecture in the Education Center, located adjacent to the box office at the Music Center at Strathmore. Strathmore presents the Washington-area premiere of AGA-BOOM at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore. Christine Schadeberg Wydro, a professional singer and Potomac resident, will be performing in the 2006 Music Patrons Series of North Chevy Chase Christian Church at 1:30 p.m. This series is free and open to the public. Christine will be singing a selection of classical and popular songs assisted by her collaborator of 20 years, Christopher Oldfather, pianist. Featured will be songs by Ravel, Purcell, and American composer Samuel Barber, as well as selections from the Broadway stage the silver screen. Parilla Performing Arts Center Guest Artist Series will be presenting legendary bluegrass band The Seldom Scene at 8 p.m. Their urban approach to bluegrass makes The Seldom Scene one of the most progressive and influential bands in the genre. The students from College Performing Arts Series will be performing "Heaven," Wednesday-Saturday, April 19-22, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. Written by George F. Walker, this dark comedy follows the lives of people who aren't exactly the types anyone would want to spend five minutes with — much less an eternity. At the Robert E. The Montgomery College Rockville Dance Company continues its annual tradition with a program of exciting and original dance works by Montgomery College students and faculty, as well as Washington, D.C. area choreographers. The Spring Dance Concert will be on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Robert E. Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave. Bethesda, (formerly BAPA) announces the student production of “Governing Alice.” This production features teenagers from the 6th graduating class of the Acting Conservatory Program at Imagination Stage. Imagination Stage's fifth show of the 2005-06 professional season in the Lerner Family Theatre is a world premiere adaptation of the novel “The Hundred Dresses,” with script and direction by Helen Hayes Award-winning writer/director Mary Hall Surface.
