Fine Arts Scene

The Vienna Arts Society presents an exhibit, Scenes from Vienna, at the Freeman House Museum, 131 Church St., N.E., from May 3-June 30. The exhibit will be open Wednesday through Saturday from noon-4 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. Call 703-319-3971.

The Vienna Arts Society show, "Shadow Building," by Brenda Mattioli is the theme for its upcoming show running through Saturday, June 3. The Gallery is located in the Village Green Shopping Center at 513 West Maple Avenue in Vienna. The Vienna Art Center is offering several art classes. Abrakadoodle, an art class for children ages 20 months to 12 years, is held Mondays and Tuesdays. Painting Nature in Watercolor with Lassie Corbett is offered Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon, through June 7. Registration is $145. Oriental Brush Painting with Lassie Corbett is offered Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. starting in mid-April and running for seven weeks. The center is located at 115 Pleasant St. Call 703-319-3971.

"Sundays at the Art Center" is a new program being conducted by the Vienna Arts Society at its Art Center, 115 Pleasant St. Every Sunday between noon and 4 p.m., visit, have a cup of coffee, soft drinks and cookies, view paintings and talk about art with artists. Art Classes. The Great Falls Art Center provides weekly classes in drawing, oil painting, pottery, sculpture and art history for children over 6, teenagers, adults and seniors at its Walker Road studio in Great Falls. Impressionist landscape artist Lawrence Altaffer’s work will be featured at Riverbend Park Visitor’s Center in Great Falls, beginning in April and continuing through May. The exhibit, “Earth and Sky Into Art,” features a select group of oil landscapes which celebrate the aesthetic play of light and color through widespread locales.
