<cal2>"Inherit the Wind" Auditions. 7-9 p.m. at in the Waddell Theater on the Loudoun NOVA Campus. The auditions will be cold readings from the script. All community members as well as College students, faculty and staff are welcome to audition. Men and women of all ages are needed, as well as one boy and one girl, age 12-15. Those selected to be in the cast can also receive class credit for their participation by registering for Advanced Theater Production (SPD 299). <cal2>Back-to-School Friendship Ride. Beginning 6:30 a.m. Best Buddies Virginia has partnered with Lockheed Martin to host the Lockheed Martin/Best Buddies Virginia Back-to-School Friendship Ride. The event will be a cycling ride with 32 and 12 mile course options on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Registration, from Aug. 1 until Sept. 2 is $25, afterwards, it is $35.

Firefighters from Reston Company 25, Wiehle Avenue Fire & Rescue Team will be joined by local residents who have experienced the trauma of a home fire in a program on Fire Safety. Station Commander Capt. James Ghi and his crew will describe important fire safety measures, provide personal checklists to help keep homes safe, and advise what to do first if a fire breaks out at your house or a neighbor's. The League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area (LWVFA) and the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations (The Federation) will co-sponsor a debate for candidates running in the upcoming 11th Congressional District election. All candidates — Congressman Tom Davis, Andrew Hurst, and Ferdinando Greco — have accepted the invitation to participate in the debate.
