The Fountains Club is holding a free series of classes every Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon starting Nov. 16. The club is located in the Fountains at Washington House, 5100 Fillmore Ave., Alexandria. For more information contact Nakiya Smith at 703-845-2964 Monday-Friday between 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Classic Tales ‘n Tunes, an integrated arts program for young children and caregivers, is being offered for the first time at the Chinquapin Recreation Center in Alexandria beginning Jan. 26. The 10-week session will offer a choice of seven different classes on Fridays for students age 1-4 years and their caregivers, ranging from an 8:30 a.m. class for early risers, to a 4:15 p.m. class for those looking for an activity after nap or after work, and five other choices in between. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 14-02 will be offering a "Boating Skills and Seamanship" public education course. This course is designed for the experienced and novice boater. Individuals who successfully complete the course and exam are awarded certificates and cards. Weekend class Dec. 9 and 10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Class located at the Springfield Government Center. Old Town Alexandria’s premier Ballroom & Latin dance studio will offer free group classes, introductory private lessons, and dance shows during its month-long open house. Maria Pradilla, owner of Generations and former World Argentine Tango Finalist, extends an invitation to the Alexandria and D.C. Metro community. Generations Dance & Fitness Studios is located in Old Town Alexandria at 816 North Saint Asaph St. and has been instructing beginning to advanced dancers for over five years. The Open House Kick Off will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 28 with a special Tango performance by Maria Pradilla followed by a Milonga-style Practice Party at 7:45 p.m. The Practice Party will be preceded by a beginner Tango Class and followed by an intermediate class. Each Tuesday Practice Party for the duration of the open house will feature a special theme and performance all free to the general public.
