<lst>The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce has elevated its Hispanic Business Committee to a "council" level to reflect the importance of its mission, accomplishments, regional impact and important alliances in Northern Virginia. It will be called the Hispanic Business Council.

James Michael Kealey, president of Cam Inc., announces the opening of its new head office at 4455 Brookfield Corporate Drive, suite 106, Chantilly. Cam Inc. specializes in the management of homeowner associations and condominiums in Northern Virginia.

R.W. Murray Co. of Chantilly is pleased to announce that it has contributed more than $65,000 to 35 charitable organizations. The company takes a unique approach to charitable giving, by allowing each employee to designate the recipient organization and the donation is made on behalf of the employee. The donation amount is based upon the employee’s length of service with the company.

AARP Tax-Aide is the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation service available to taxpayers with low-and middle income, with special attention to those age 60 and older. This year, all tax returns will be electronically filed. All taxpayers must bring a government issued picture ID and Social Security cards for all persons included on the tax return. The AARP Tax-Aide program operates between Feb. 1 through April 17. The majority of the sites operate on a walk-in basis, with appointments being required at some Senior Centers. Cassel's Sports and Awards has moved from its Franklin Farm Shopping Center location to 14000 Park Center Road, Herndon. It will be holding a Swim Fashion Show on Feb. 18, coordinated by the Chantilly High School DECA chapter and sponsored by TYR. Along with TYR, other companies will be showing off many of their new swimsuit lines for the upcoming season. The fashion shows will be held at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. In between the two fashion shows there will be a professional photo shoot featuring community models in the most recent swim trends.

The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce and Access National Bank present the Annual Awards Gala on Saturday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m.-midnight, in the new ballroom of the Hilton-Washington Dulles Airport (Route 28 and McLearen Road, Herndon). "Entrepreneurship 1-1: Starting a Business in Fairfax County" seminars will continue in 2006 with nine dates for the upcoming year. The Fairfax Economic Development Authority conducts the workshop for individuals interested in beginning a business in Fairfax County.

The workshops are held on the first Tuesday of each month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Blvd., Suite 4550, Vienna. Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with refreshments and networking. Sessions are free but pre-registration is required. Interested participants can register on the FCEDA's Web site at www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org. The scheduled 2006 dates are: Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6, Sept. 12, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.

The FCEDA promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information.

Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Greater Fairfax will host Dr. Sheila Barry-Oliver, chair of the BPW Foundation Board of Trustees, and Vincette Goerl, chair of the McPherson College Board of Trustees, speaking on "Achieving Success in Non-Profit Foundations" at its monthly dinner meeting on Monday, Feb. 13, from 6:30-9 p.m., at Tysons Corner Embassy Suites, 8517 Leesburg Pike (Route 7), Vienna. Bowman Consulting of Chantilly announces the successful certification of several of its employees. Brian Larson became a certified landscape architect; James A. Neville became a licensed surveyor; Tahir Benabdi, Clif Dayton and Abdullah Noorzad each became registered professional engineers; and Patrick O’Brien received his registration as a certified arborist. All six are certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Data Systems Analysts Inc. (DSA), a provider of business-driven information technology and consulting solutions, announced a 12-month cooperative support agreement with The Software Engineering Institute (SEI).

Initially, DSA will work with SEI to build on each other's expertise and experience to determine the best approaches for the government to proceed in regard to Service Oriented Architectures, Modular Open Systems Approach, Net-Centric Enterprise Services, and other system and software architectures that will benefit Department of Defense initiatives.
