The 20th Annual Jazz & Tap Dance Festival will showcase regional dance companies, including companies from Loudoun County, that celebrates the vitality and breadth of jazz and tap dance. Not Just Shakespeare, Loudoun County's community-based classic theater company providing educational opportunities for all ages, announces its spring production of Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park," directed by artistic director Tim Jon. Performances will be held Feb. 24, 25 and 26 and March 3, 4 and 5. Fridays and Saturdays the curtain will rise at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. The play is produced in cooperation with and with the support of the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center. This production will feature two casts performing in repertory. An all-adult cast will perform Feb. 24, Feb. 26 and March 4. A youth cast will take the stage Feb. 25, March 3 and March 5.

A group of local artists associated with the Christian Artists Circle from Loudoun and Fauquier counties is holding a retreat for artists to take place March 14-15, at the Dominican Retreat in McLean. Artists are encouraged to register by Feb. 28 to avoid the late registration fee.
The program, "Creation & Inspiration: A Retreat for Christians in the Arts," is open to all visual, performing and literary artists from the greater Washington-metropolitan area. The retreat offers artists an opportunity to meet and network, share their gifts of creativity, listen to a variety of inspiring presentations, participate in small group discussions and take advantage of quiet times for individual reflection.
The program has been changed to include a day-only option, as well as the full overnight program. The fee for the Tuesday-Wednesday Overnight Program, which begins March 14, at 7 p.m. and ends March 15, at 4 p.m., is $135 and includes a private bedroom, breakfast and lunch. The Wednesday-only program, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., March 15, is $ 59 and includes lunch. Late registration fee is an additional $15. Reservations must be received no later than March 7.

The Loudoun Museum will be featuring an exhibition, A Ladies Night Out in Loudoun: Formal Wear from the Loudoun Museum Collection. The items on display come from the museumÕs large and unique collection of textiles. Most of these objects are on display for the first time.
The exhibition will cover formal wear from the early Victorian period to the 1950s. The exhibit also includes hair combs, shoes, boots, hand bags, hat, stockings and collars from the Victorian period to the mid-20th century. In addition, the exhibit includes a rare Martha Washington ChildrenÕs Corset from the early 1900s and the directions on how it should be used to shape the waist of young ladies.

"Nature and the Landscape-Two Views" opens March 1, at Gallery 222 in Leesburg. The exhibit features the work of painters Don Black and Ed Cooper and their personal perspectives, which range from the abstract to the representational.
Black is an abstract painter whose inspiration comes from the
outdoors. Cooper paints the landscape and outdoor scenes in oil.
The exhibit continues through April 1. Gallery 222 is located at 222 South King St., on the edge of historic Leesburg. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Abstract artworks from three Loudoun artists are on display through March at the County Government Center. The works are from the county's permanent collection and can be viewed during business hours in the Gallery on the first floor, which is adjacent to the lobby area.
The exhibit features constructions by Julie Savage Lea of Waterford, paintings by Alfred McAdams who lives on Mt. Gilead and watercolors by Carol Staten who now lives in Columbus, Mo.
The exhibition was arranged by members of the Art Advisory Committee, which is responsible for maintaining and exhibiting the county's permanent art collection, including donated works and those on long- term loan. The entire collection of approximately 90 pieces includes three sculptures, which were placed in the Government Center gardens last August and nine portraits of former Loudoun County judges, which
are located in the Courthouse building.
The spring 2006 exhibit at The George Washington University Virginia Campus in Ashburn features two-dimensional, mixed-media works by 67 Loudoun County Public School students from Legacy Elementary School, Seneca Ridge Middle School, and Dominion High School.

Morven Park, the historic home of Virginia Gov. Westmoreland Davis, located in Leesburg, is a 1,000-acre estate offering visitors a glimpse into Virginia country life during the early years of the 20th century is open to the public April-November, Fridays-Mondays and other times by appointment. The Western Loudoun Artist Studio Tour takes place June 24-25 and features opportunities to visit the working studios of more than 20 artists. The tour is free to the public.
