During December 2005, Reston Youth Association, Reston's Youth Football and Cheerleading Program, conducted its annual RYA Seahawk Award Ceremony. Awards were given to Delante Jefferies, Youth Football Player of the Year and Nikita Harrison, Youth Cheerleader of the Year. Each year, RYA selects a player and cheerleader from each team based on sportsmanship, leadership, dedication and community service for a nomination to the Fairfax County Youth Football League. From these candidates, RYA selects a Football Player and Cheerleader of the Year. Also receiving awards were Deena Stokes, Cheerleading Coach of the Year; Robert Walker, Football Coach of the Year; and Melissa Williams, Volunteer of the Year. In addition, more than 80 awards for academic excellence were presented to cheerleaders and football players from the program.
