Navy Federal Credit Union, located at 5900 Centreville Road, Suite 110, is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries in Chantilly. Donations are being accepted for new or gently worn coats, hats, gloves and boots for adults and children through Jan. 31.

"Entrepeneurship 1-1: Starting a Business in Fairfax County" seminars will continue in 2006 with nine dates for the upcoming year. The Fairfax Economic Development Authority conducts the workshop for individuals interested in beginning a business in Fairfax County.

The workshops are held on the first Tuesday of each month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Blvd., Suite 4550, Vienna. Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with refreshments and networking. Sessions are free but pre-registration is required. Interested participants can register on the FCEDA's Web site at www. FairfaxCountyEDA.org. The scheduled 2006 dates are: Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6, Sept. 12, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.

The FCEDA promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information.

Chantilly resident Daniel L. Moore, AIA, an architect specializing in healthcare facilities design with PSA-Dewberry, has been elected to the board of directors of Special Love Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides programs for children with cancer and their families.

Moore has been active with Special Love for many years, and PSA-Dewberry is an annual sponsor of the organization’s Camp Fantastic Golf Tournament fund-raiser, which supports Special Love’s week-long camp in Front Royal.

His work has included the design of cancer treatment facilities at several leading hospitals in the region, including Georgetown University Medical Center, the University of Virginia Health System, Washington Hospital Center and Culpeper Regional Hospital.

Bowman Consulting of Chantilly is proud to announce the successful certification of several of its employees. Brian Larson became a Certified Landscape Architect, James A. Neville became a Licensed Surveyor, Tahir Benabdi, Clif Dayton and Abdullah Noorzad became registered Professional Engineers and Patrick O’Brien received his registration as a Certified Arborist, a certification that is a rarity amongst the industry. All six are certified in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que, a down-home total dining experience reminiscent of a backyard barbeque, brought slow-smoked ribs, BBQ to Chantilly as doors opened for business on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Burgess & Niple, Inc. recently announced the election of Arthur L. Woods III, PE, to an owner of the firm effective Jan. 1.

Woods joined the firm in 1980 was the Director of the Firm's Dulles office, located in Chantilly, where he is responsible for managing contractual, marketing, operational and project-related activities.
