The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is divided into five branches:

Field Operations

Division Commander: Maj. R. Buckman

Field Operations responds to all citizens' calls 24 hours a day/365 days a year. Members of this division investigate traffic accidents, supervise school safety, help coordinate community policing programs and are responsible for school resource officers. The division also has a one sergeant, four deputy team that enforces law at the Dulles Town Center Mall.

Special Operations

Division Commander: Maj. Robert Brendel

Team members of the Special Operations Division are involved in emergency response services through the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team, a hostage-negotiations team, a dive team, a bicycle-patrol team, identification services, a crossing guard program, K-9 operations, community policing, crime prevention, a traffic-safety unit, and the D.A.R.E. program.

Criminal Investigations

Division Commander: Maj. Larry Beardsley

The Criminal Investigations division of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office investigates unresolved serious misdemeanors and felonies. The division also is responsible for forensic examinations, computer forensics, computer seizures, juvenile offenses, and vice/narcotics investigations.

The Administration/Technical Services division of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office provides numerous services including fingerprinting, evidence, communications (911), applicant section for hiring and records and criminal record checks. The division is where residents should go to seek concealed weapons permits, massage permits, solicitor permits and copies of accident and offense reports. Customer service is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m. If seeking permit residents should arrive between 9 a.m and 4:30 p.m.

The Department of Corrections houses the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, which provides minimum, medium and maximum security for inmates. Court Security is responsible for providing security for all the convening courts in Loudoun County and civil process.

Loudoun County Community Corrections Program

This program arranges community service work instead of incarceration for non-violent offenders.

The Juvenile Detention Center securely incarcerates youth and provides them with counseling, substance abuse programs, crisis intervention and a certified school program.
