School Board

The nine-member Loudoun County School Board meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building, 21000 Education Court, in Ashburn. During July, August and December, the Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. No fourth Tuesday meetings are planned. The meetings are broadcast live and at noon, Wednesdays on Adelphia Cable Channel 23 and 24.

Loudoun County's current School Board was elected in the November 2003 general election and will continue to serve until Dec. 31, 2007. The board elects officers annually in January.

Robert F. DuPree Jr., chairman, Dulles: DuPree was elected to represent the Dulles District on the School Board in November 2003. He was elected chairman in 2006. He is the chair laison with the Board of Supervisors and the discipline committee chair. He also serves on the finance, construction and site acquisition, legislative policy committees and the Economic Development Commission and the School Business Partnership Executive Council.

Thomas Reed, vice chairman, at large: Reed was elected a School Board member at-large November 2003. He is the personnel services committee chair and the Virginia School Board Association delegate. He is also a liason with the School Board and serves on the legislative policy, health, wellness and safety and the Loudoun Education Foundation committees.

Priscilla B. Godfrey, Blue Ridge: Godfrey was elected to represent the Blue Ridge District on the School Board November 2003. She serves on the curriculum and instruction, financial and site acquisition and health, safety and wellness committees.

Godfrey said she is concerned with improving the health of Loudoun County Public School students and providing advanced curriculum for high school students.

Godfrey is the president of the Loudoun Volunteer Financial Council and a member of the Waterford Quilters Guild and the Philomont Ladies Auxiliary. She is a graduate of Muskingum College in Muskingum, Ohio, with a double major in theatre and English. She is also a graduate of the Washington School for Secretaries. Her husband, Dennis Godfrey, is president of Navy Federal Financial Services Group. The Godfreys have three children, Meghann Donohue, Gwen Godfrey, and Patrick Godfrey.

Bob Ohneiser, Broad Run: Ohneiser was elected to represent the Broad Run District on the School Board November 2003. He is the health, safety and wellness committee chair and serves on the finance, construction and site acquisition and legislative policy committees. He is also a liason with the Board of Supervisors.

Ohneiser has been a key player in adding Mandarin to the Loudoun County Public Schools curriculum.

Ohneiser currently practices law from his Ashburn home. He is the founding and active member of Ashburn United Adult Soccer Team. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Good Shepherd Alliance, a Sterling-based nonprofit organization that serves the homeless.

Mark J. Nuzzaco, Catoctin: Nuzzaco was elected to represent the Catoctin District on the School Board in November 2003. He is legislative policy committee chair. He also serves on the Career and Technical Education Foundation and discipline Committee.

Sarah B. Smith, Leesburg: Smith was elected to represent the Leesburg District on the School Board in November 2003. She serves on the personnel services, curriculum and instruction, special education advisory and the technology steering committees and the Career and Technical Education Foundation.

John A. Andrews, Potomac: Andrews was elected to represent the Potomac District on the School Board in November 2003. He currently chairs the finance, construction and site acquisition committee. He also serves as a liason with the Board and Supervisors and is a member of the personnel services and the health, safety and wellness committees and the School Business Partnership Council.

J. Warren Geurin, Sterling: Geurin was elected to represent the Sterling District in November 2003. He is the curriculum and instruction committee chair. He also serves on the finance, construction and site acquisition, personnel services and the Minority Student Achievement committees.
