Curbside refuse and recycling collection services are provided by incorporated towns, some homeowners associations and directly by one of the many private waste management companies operating in the county.

Incorporated Towns and Homeowner Association Information:

Ashburn Farm: Call Ashburn Farms Homeowners Association, 703-729-6680.

Ashburn Village: Call Ashburn Village Homeowners Association, 703-729-5162.

Cascades: Call Cascades Community Association, 703-406-0820.

Countryside: Call Countryside Proprietary, 703-430-0715.

Town of Leesburg: Call Leesburg Town Office, 703-777-2420.

South Riding: Call South Riding Proprietary, 703-327-4390.

If you do not live within an incorporated town or homeowners association providing refuse and recycling collection services, you must arrange for services directly with one of the private waste and recycling companies serving Loudoun County.

Private waste collection services vary from place to place and the best advice is to ask a Realtor, landlord, or neighbor about refuse and recycling collection in the community.

<lst>Residents may arrange with a private hauler to pick up recyclable materials, or may drop off the recyclables at any of 11 drop-off sites located in all parts of the county.

Eastern Loudoun recycling centers are:

Sterling Park Community Recycling Center at Park View High School, Sterling Park, 400 W. Laurel Ave.

Hours: Monday-Friday, dawn to dusk, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Materials accepted:

Mixed food and beverage containers, including:

* glass bottles and jars

* aluminum and steel cans

* plastic milk, water, and soda bottles

Newspapers and anything that comes in a newspaper, phone books, corrugated cardboard and paperboard; no bags.

Loudoun County Landfill Recycling Center is located four miles south of Leesburg at 20939 Evergreen Mills Road (Route 621).

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Materials accepted:

Mixed food and beverage containers, including:

* glass bottles and jars

* aluminum and steel cans

* plastic milk, water, and soda bottles

Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, and phone books; corrugated cardboard and paperboard; used motor oil; used antifreeze; auto batteries; automotive tires, small fee assessed; scrap metal, small fee assessed.

Arcola Community Recycling Center at 24244 Gum Springs Road (Route 659).

Hours: Daylight hours, seven days per week.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

<bt>The Office of Solid Waste Management conducts several Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days throughout the year to collect used and unwanted household hazardous materials Ñ gasoline, household chemicals, etc. For these events, a special contractor comes to the county to accept and package the waste for shipment to an appropriate processing facility.

The county also conducts two hazardous waste disposal collection events each year for local businesses under the Clean Waste Program. For more information, call the Office of Solid Waste Management at 703-777-0187.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is oil-based and latex paints; paint thinners and solvents; insecticides; pesticides; herbicides; fertilizers with herbicides; gasoline and other unwanted fuels; photographic chemicals; swimming pool chemicals; alkaline and nickel/cadmium rechargeable batteries and button batteries Ñ used in watches, hearing aids, calculators, etc.
