Air Force Airman 1st Class William K. Shen has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Shen Wai and Fu Shen of Vienna. Shen graduated in 1999 from George C. Marshall High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Virginia Tech.
Jonathan Robert Baugh, a 1998 graduate of Oakton High School, an Eagle Scout and a 2004 NROTC graduate from the University of Mississippi, successfully completed the U.S. Navy's 16-month Nuclear Engineering Officer Program. Recently promoted to Lieutenant JG, Baugh graduated near the top of his class in the final stage of the program where he trained on a working nuclear reactor, which was removed from a former U.S. submarine. Upon completion of the Submarine Officer Basic Course in Groton, Conn., he has been assigned to the new SSGN Michigan, which will be based out of Bangor, Wash.
Baugh was awarded his Eagle rank in August of 1998 while a member of Boy Scout Troop 183 based at Oakton United Methodist Church. He is married to Leah Marie Cromp, a 1999 Oakton High School graduate. They have two daughters, Taylor Marie and Jessica Lynn. Lt. JG Baugh's parents are Jerry and Donna Baugh, who have resided in Vienna since 1973.
