Teens Attacked in Reston

Several men chased and assaulted three local teenagers around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, after they got off a bus in Reston, according to police.

Several men in an old Chrysler minivan followed the three boys, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, who were riding the bus from Herndon to a stop near Centreville Road and Sunrise Valley Drive in the Reston area.

When the teenagers got off, the suspects got out of the vehicle and chased the teenagers, said the police report.

The men assaulted one of the 16-year-olds, a Herndon-area boy, at the 2400 block of Wheat Meadow Circle, said the report. The suspects cut his hand with an unknown object during the assault, said the report. The teenager was taken to Reston hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

A 17-year-old Reston-area boy was also assaulted in the 2400 block of Dew Meadow Court. He suffered minor injuries, but did not need to be hospitalized. The other 16-year-old Reston-area teen was not injured.

Before boarding the bus near the intersection of Elden Street and Herndon Parkway in Herndon, the teenagers heard comments from several men driving by in an older Chrysler minivan, said a police report.

Detectives are trying to establish the identities of the suspects who were described as Hispanic men, said the police report. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
