JCC offers seventh annual arts festival.

More than 50 artists arrived in the Washington, D.C. area March 10-12 for the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia's Celebration for the arts. The celebration, now in its seventh year, has grown from a small art show to a major weekend event, with showings Friday, March 10 and Sunday, March 12 and a gala Saturday evening.

According to arts coordinator Irene Gavin, the show recruits artists from as far away as Israel through an outreach program with the Israeli Embassy. The artists stay with host families during the show, she said. The proceeds from the show, which featured everything from fashion design to paintings to jewelry, benefited the JCC and the artists.

"It's grown every year," said Gavin. "Some years, it's doubled."
