Dolly Oberoi, C2 Technologies, Vienna, is one of the finalists for the Seventh Annual Women in Technology Leadership Awards. This annual award recognizes women who have exemplified the Women in Technology mission to Connect. Lead. Succeed. Finalists are chosen based on their ability to balance their roles as mentors, role models and leaders. The winners will be announced at a banquet and ceremony on May 18, at the Hilton McLean in McLean.

"How to be a High Performance Professional Networker." Program combines memory skills and networking. Participants will learn to use N.I.T.R.O. The Vienna-based Southern Management Corporation, a residential property company, was honored by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a Virginia Governor's Service and Volunteerism Award for Large Businesses. The awards recognize voluntary efforts in the areas of government, homeland security, national service, nonprofits and civic engagement. Southern Management was recognized for its support of military families in the capital area. Since 1986, the company has provided complimentary housing to hundreds of military personnel through the Emergency Housing Program. Southern Management also is an active participant in the Military Housing Set-Aside Program, which sets aside a certain number of apartment homes at Southern Management communities for military personnel that cannot secure base housing. Also, Southern Management employees have given thousands of hours of volunteer time preparing care packages and toiletry kits for the Operation USO Care Package program and donated more than $5,000 to the program.

Vienna-based Backfence Inc. has launched its latest community site in Arlington, providing “hyperlocal” coverage of the county. Backfence.com/Arlington gives Arlingtonians a place online to can find local information, share stories, pictures and events, comment on local issues, review local businesses and advertise goods and services. As with Backfence’s previous sites in McLean and Reston and in Bethesda, Md., all of the content on the site is supplied by members of the community.

Chalk Inc. has been named exclusive eLearning solution provider for Digital Media Broadcast Corporation (DMBC). Chalk Inc. announced a three year strategic alliance with DMBC, a Virginia-based provider of niche digital broadcasts over a dedicated "Virtual Private Network". Whereby Chalk will become the exclusive provider of eLearning software, services and content to DMBC's clients.

Merrifield-based independent public broadcaster MHz Networks has launched Worldview, an internationally diverse, 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week program stream for public television stations. The new stream aims to attract globally aware viewers with a range of international programming blocks — world news, foreign affairs, international mysteries, world music, sports and foreign films — all in English or subtitled. The evening world news block features newscasts from Taiwan, India, Japan, France and Germany, with Bolivian and Russian news being added in March and pan-African news arriving by June. The World Music block features "Strictly Global," with videos from all over the world. The Emmy Award-winning "MHz Presents" features artists from all genres of music. Both "Strictly Global" and "MHz Presents" are MHz original productions. The international mystery block features iconic detectives from all over the world.

McLean-based Communiqué Conferencing Inc., audio and Web conferencing service provider, was named "Best Webinar Solution" by Elearning! Magazine. Elearning! readers and industry professionals nominated and cast ballots for the best e-learning solution providers across nine product categories.

Michael Briglia has been named vice president of commercial banking at First Horizon Bank's Northern Virginia-based commercial banking team. Briglia will operate from the mid-Atlantic regional headquarters in Tyson's Corner. He brings 15 years of experience in business development to the team. His responsibilities will include providing commercial lending products and services including commercial deposit and treasury management services.

Talbots Kids, located at Tysons Corner, honored manager Jessica Smith at a recent awards dinner naming her store the 2005 Kids Store of the Year. The award, which recognizes outstanding performance, was one of the highest honors presented at the banquet. Smith and her staff are noted for achieving strong sales performance and the highest standards of customer service.

JP Brehony Homes/Commonwealth Housing Corporation of Vienna has been chosen as the Custom Builder of the Year by the Custom Builders Council of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association. JP Brehony has been in business since 1991 and primarily builds upper-end, single-family custom homes in and around the town of Vienna.

Archisha Mehan has joined Cardinal Bank as assistant vice president in the Small Business Division. She will be responsible for business development in the Fairfax County market. Mehan is a graduate of the University of Bombay with a bachelors of arts in financial accounting and a masters from the University of Stirling, U.K.

HBL of Tysons, a luxury and sports car dealer, has hired the Bomstein Agency to provide advertising services for its dealership group. The agency's account services, creative and media departments will work to manage all aspects of HBL's advertising in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

Vienna-based Billy Casper Golf recently completed a remodeling of the clubhouse at its Reston National Golf Course and will now begin expanding the course's practice facilities. The practice facilities are projected to be complete by mid-April.

Billy Casper Golf, based in Vienna, recently honored a dozen superintendents at an annual meeting in Atlanta for their efforts maintaining course conditions at golf facilities located across the United States managed by the firm.

Greg Dubois, who oversees the agronomic operations at the award-winning Wintonbury Hills in Connecticut, won the Superintendent of the Year award.

Charm City Concierge, co-owned by Nancy Green of Vienna, was recently featured on Good Morning America. The story was about national trends for corporate concierge services and how companies like Charm City Concierge continue to grow and be successful.

Lewis Scully Gionet Inc., a Vienna-based landscape architecture, planning and urban design firm, has announced the promotions of several individuals to its senior staff. Steve Choi, Brian Jacobson and Lindsey Whang have been promoted to associates. Molly Graves has been promoted to senior project manager, and Amol Desphande and David Norden have been promoted to project managers.

KSI Services Inc., a Vienna-based developer, has entered into an agreement for Dallas-based Club Corp to manage the Harbor Station Golf Club. Located in KSI's Harbor Station resort community in Prince William County, the club will feature a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, due to open in 2007.

Signature Kitchen, Bath & Closets Inc., a women-owned and operated builder and remodeler of kitchens and baths, has announced the grand opening of its new showroom on Maple Avenue.

The Washington, D.C. office of Jefferson Wells, a global provider of accounting, internal audit and controls, tax, and technology risk management services, was presented with the company's "Office of the Year" award. The award was presented to managing director Jack Causa at the Jefferson Wells Annual Kickoff Event in Phoenix.

The Jefferson Wells "Office of the Year" award recognizes strong leadership of the managing director, collective sales success of the business development managers, strength of recruiting and back office support in the human resources function and quality of service delivery led by the directors and delivered by the engagement managers and professionals. Only one office is recognized with this honor each year.
