Blueberries. Sybil Mays, co-owner of Paradise Nursery (a small, family-owned Virginian fruit nursery), discusses planting, growing, harvesting and cooking blueberries. May Flowers for Mother’s Day. Bring your mother and casually stroll the gardens of Green Spring with an interpreter to find out what the April showers brought forth this spring. After the tea, join the musical celebration on the lawn as the Fairfax Woodwind Quintet play in the Green Spring gazebo. 1-3 p.m. at Historic Green Spring House, 4603 Green Spring Road.

John Adams PTA Yard Sale. 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at John Adams Elementary School, 5651 Rayburn Ave. Proceeds go towards the development and implementation of future programs/events for the students of John Adams. Rain date is Sunday, May 21, same time. Call 703-824-6970.

Civil War Artillery at the Fort. Connecticut Heavy Artillery reenactors portray a Union regiment stationed at Fort Ward. Firing demonstrations with replica cannons, displays of projectiles and artellery equipment, and camp life activities such as mail call, pay call and cooking. St. Mary’s Spring Fling. 16th annual event at St. Mary’s School, 400 Green St., 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Family Fun: carnival rides, kid crafts, games, flea market, book sales, music and food. Daimler Chrysler “Drive for Kids” will donate $10 to the school for each test drive, so take a spin behind the wheel and help raise money.
