AOL employees presented a check in the amount of $25,000 to Loudoun Youth Inc. to fund programs that emerge from the Loudoun Youth Initiative. AOL employees raised funds through the purchase of tickets to the Big Apple Circus; each year, AOL buys out a night at the Big Apple Circus and sells tickets to employees, with proceeds being donated to charity.
In addition, AOL also announced a challenge grant to Loudoun Youth Inc., whereby it will match up to $50,000 in funds raised by Loudoun Youth Inc.
United Airlines will file its application for a direct route from Dulles Airport to Beijing with the U.S. Department of Transportation. United is one of four airlines competing for this route, which will be the only new international route awarded by the federal government this year.
The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce hosted the first-ever, "Recognition of Excellence in Innovation" Award reception. Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology Robert Cresanti presented the award to ODIN Technologies, headquartered in Dulles, for its innovation in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

AH&T Insurance expands its claims division with the recent hiring of Richard E. Hirschoff, SCLA. Atlantic Skyline recently completed construction and installation of a new exhibit displaying the upcoming new airport train system. Working with Redhead Companies of Ellicott City, Md., to develop a design aimed at promoting the new train system linking the main terminal with the concourses, Atlantic Skyline produced two 22-inch displays promoting the airport expansion. Scheduled for completion in 2009, the new rail system will deliver passengers from the airline gates in the concourses to the main terminal, eventually replacing the current "people movers" mode of transport.
The security checkpoint lanes at Washington Dulles International Airport have been moved to the west end of the main terminal's ticketing area. Passengers should follow the new signage highlighting Washington Dulles' newly located screening area.
