Poisson Educates Community of Affordable Education

Del. David Poisson (D-32) will host a college admission panel, “Choosing the Right College for You,” Thursday, Oct. 19, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Northern Virginia Community College’s Waddell Theater in Sterling.

Poisson, a former college professor, especially directed the program at parents and high-school juniors and seniors in the 32nd District, including Broad Run, Dominion, Stone Bridge and Potomac Falls high school students.

The college admissions panel includes Anne-Marie Waterman, the senior education manager for higher education services for the College Board, Clint Young, a financial aid counselor on the Loudoun Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, and Andrew Flagel, dean of admissions at George Mason University.

During the two-hour discussion, the panel will answer questions on SATs and how to prepare and fund college.

“If we expect our children to have better lives than the ones we had, with even greater opportunities than we’ve been able to enjoy, then higher education has to continue to be every bit as accessible and affordable for them as it was for us,” Poisson said.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Sandra Martinez 703-669-4776.
