Child Struck by Car

Accident occurs at an oft-criticized intersection.

A child was ground transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital early Friday morning after a car struck him near the intersection of Soapstone Drive and Stoneview Square.

The child, who police say is between 11- and 13-years-old, was hit around 7 a.m. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, said Officer Keela Lowry, a spokesperson for Fairfax County Police.

Police are continue to investigate and have not determined whether the driver of the car will face charges. “The investigation is still going on,” said Lowry.

The four-lane section of Soapstone Drive, near a small shopping center, has long been the focus of criticism. Recently, neighbors have complained about parked campers and other vehicles along the stretch, but complaints also include speeding and other vehicle violations.
