The jury system: what’s the verdict in Virginia? Having looked at the national jury system in June, the Fairfax Area League of Women Voters will be discussing at its October meetings how the Virginia jury systems operate. The organization’s unit meetings will be held during the first and second week of October at 16 locations throughout Fairfax and Prince William counties. The League’s meetings are free and guests are welcome; no registration is required. The Western Fairfax County Woman's Club is selling the 2006 White House Christmas ornaments. This year's ornament honors President Chester A. Arthur who assumed the office of President after the death of James A. Garfield who died of wounds from an assassin's bullet. The cost of the ornament is $18 and all profits benefit charity. <cal2>The Centreville Regional Art Guild (CRAG) will host Clifton artist Paul Hennesy at its September meeting from 4-6 p.m. at the Centreville Regional Library. He will speak on the business side of art: getting into galleries, co-op galleries and outdoor shows; taking the step into prints and giclees; and Web sites and other marketing tools. He will also provide advice about framing and shipping artwork. Hennesy specializes in landscapes and seascapes, painting in North Carolina's Outer Banks as well as on frequent visits to France and Italy. Basic Pistol Class. Learn about handguns in a safe, responsible way. A meeting to discuss the Route 28/Braddock Road/Walney Road Intersection will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Sully District Governmental Center. This is a follow up to the November 2005 meeting, and the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation will present a proposal to modify Route 28/Braddock/ Walney and beyond.
