A Potomac Less Trashy

Thousands of volunteers descended on parks, stream beds and marinas across Fairfax County March 31 and April 1, part of the annual Potomac Watershed Clean-Up weekend sponsored by the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Volunteers picked up hundreds of bags of trash, ranging from foam coffee cups and branches to car parts and, at Lake Accotink, an exploded training mine that had to be removed by Fairfax County Police.
