Mountain View's Sharon DeBragga chairs the Education Council of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Education Council, comprised of school career counselors and business volunteers, is seeking companies and other organizations with jobs to fill to recruit at the Chamber's fourth annual Student Job Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, at Dulles Expo Center (North Hall) in Chantilly. Sponsors of the Job Fair include Centre View Newspaper and Element H2O. Businesses will be able to choose from hundreds of potential applicants that day and even interview in a separate room. The Hispanic Business Council of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce announces that it is rolling out an initiative called the Professional Support Program. The program's goal is to help strengthen existing and/or new small Hispanic businesses through mentoring opportunities. PSP will enable these businesses to acquire the knowledge they need to sustain the business areas in which they lack proficiency. The professional mentoring areas include: Business Development, Finance & Accounting, Banking, Insurance, Sales & Marketing, Facilities & Real Estate, Information Technology and Operations. This program will be supported by volunteer members of the HBC and/or Chamber members who are professionals in their respective fields. HBC leaders estimate that volunteers would offer approximately two to four hours of their time, for up to 10 hours of customized one-on-one consulting. The HBC is accepting applications through May 10th from Hispanic businesses who are interested in entering this program. Lee Technologies of Chantilly has promoted Anita Simmons to Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Simmons who has been with the company since 2005, previously held the position of Corporate Vice President, Human Resources. In her new position as Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Simmons will be responsible for both the human resources and office administration functions of Lee Technologies, including benefit design and administration, recruiting and retention, employee relations, and compliance. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland College Park and a Masters of General Administration from the University of Maryland, University College.

Leadership Fairfax Inc. (LFI), a nonprofit organization that develops current and rising leaders in Northern Virginia, is seeking candidates for its two leadership programs — the Leadership Fairfax Signature Program and the Emerging Leaders Institute. The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority announced the election of new officers to the NVRPA Board. The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority is governed by a 12-member policy-making Board. The city council or county board of each jurisdiction appoints two members to the NVRPA Board. NVRPA is made up of the counties of Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington, and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax. William (Bill) Dickinson of Alexandria was reelected as the Board chairman and will begin his third one-year term in that position. The position of vice chair will be filled by James I. Mayer from Arlington County. Mayer had previously served as the Board treasurer. Joan G. Rokus, board member from Loudoun County, was elected to fill the position of treasurer, a position she had held previously with the organization. Rokus has also served in the past as Vice Chair of NVRPA, and used to serve as a member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Jeffrey Tarbert of Falls Church was elected to a seat as the fourth member of the NVRPA Executive Committee. Tarbert joined the NVRPA Board in 2005. He previously served as the Mayor of the City of Falls Church.

The Centreville Rotary Club has moved its meeting location from the I-Hop in Centreville to the EggsSpectations Restaurant in Chantilly. The Rotary Club meets Tuesdays from 11:30-12:30 p.m. for lunch. There is a new guest speaker every week with topics ranging from estate planning to how the Rotary helps during emergencies.
