Have a ‘Blast’ at Churchill

Winston Churchill High School presents its annual rock and roll revue “Blast” on April 20 and 21. The production will feature vocal, dance, and instrumental music performances by 200 Churchill students. This year’s theme is “Decadance,” and will highlight the music and dance of the past four decades. Current hits such as “Mambo Number 5” by Lou Bega, “Sway” by The Pussycat Dolls, and “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child are just some of the show’s musical numbers. Carlos Barillo, Churchill’s choral arts teacher, will once again produce and direct this production.

Each year the show highlights the work of one “diva” and this year’s selection is Tina Turner. An entire section of the show will feature Ms. Turner’s music, including such songs as “A Fool in Love” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” Also featured this year will be “80s Power Ballads”, which will include songs by Journey and Fleetwood Mac.

Showtimes are Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday April 21 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Bish Auditorium, Winston Churchill High School, 11300 Gainsborough Road.
