Earth Day in Burke Centre means it's time to clean up, and one section of the community has become local Girl Scouts' favorite spot.
The trails located behind the Giant Food grocery store shopping center, near the intersection of the Burke Centre Parkway and Burke Commons Road, are laden with trash. Parents of Girl Scouts in Junior Troop 3956 found the spot about three years ago, and have gone back every Earth Day since with fellow Girl Scout troops.
"This is one of their favorite activities," said Carol Ann Cunningham, a Girl Scout parent. "They get to be outside, and this is the best weather we've had in three years."
