Art Activated at The Torpedo factory

Modern dance and the visual arts intertwine at Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center Saturday, Sept. 8, from noon to 4 p.m. as part of the City's fifth annual Festival of the Arts. It will feature both artist demonstrations and engaging dance performances by the award winning BosmaDance.

This all-female dance company presents ATELIER from noon until 2 p.m. Collaborating with seven Torpedo Factory artists, the troupe will take visitors on an artistic journey throughout the historic art center to experience in-studio dance vignettes, closing with a group finale performance on the first floor of the Center. A preview performance is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the Torpedo Factory arcade, King and Union streets.

A special schedule of artistic methodologies is designed to draw visitors into the artistic process throughout the afternoon. Demonstrations will include wheel-throwing clay, printmaking, jewelry metalworking, painting, and much more, according to Claire Mouledoux, director, Torpedo Factory Art Center Communications.
