On Feb. 24, renowned author and Bible teacher Beth Moore will speak to tens of thousands of women across North America in a live satellite simulcast based on her new book "Get Out of That Pit." In a special message titled "Straight Talk About God's Deliverance," Moore will discuss the fact that deliverance is for everyone -- no matter how you got stuck, no matter how long you've been down, whether you think you deserve it or not. Presented by Church Communication Network (CCN) and Integrity Publishers, the event will be broadcast live via satellite to hundreds of churches in the U.S. and Canada. Rev Larry Hayward of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Rabbi Jack Moline will conduct a public conversation on faith and its meaning in Presbyterian and Jewish contexts and in their personal formulations. The Men's Club presents World Wide Wrap VII, its annual activity devoted to promoting the Mitzvah of Tefillin. The program will include instruction on properly putting on Tefillin and a showing of the video entitled "The Ties That Bind." Tefillin will be available for use during that time. On Sunday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. at Agudas Achim Congregation, 2908 Valley Drive, Alexandria. A light breakfast will be served after Minyan.

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington Victim Assistance Coordinator in conjunction with Catholic Charities will offer a 10-week psychotherapy group for victims/survivors of childhood sexual abuse in Arlington and Fredericksburg. The Victim Assistance Coordinator maintains a list of social workers and counselors, as well as local clergy available for counseling of victims. Beginning Jan. 14, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, will be hosting a six-week series on Christianity and World Religions: "Building Bridges Across Faith Communities." The series will include worship services and town-hall-style meetings with visiting religious scholars as well as numerous small group studies delving more deeply into understanding the world’s major religions and how Christians can more compassionately relate with other faith communities.

* The series will begin Jan. 14 with an introductory sermon by Aldersgate Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Dennis Perry. Worship services are held at 8:30 a.m. (traditional), 9:45 a.m. (contemporary) and 11:15 a.m. (traditional).

* Over the following five Sundays, Jan. 21 through Feb. 18, visiting religious scholars will be invited to speak during worship services as well as participate in a town-hall-style meeting following the 11:15 a.m. service. The Urban Passage Inc., a faith-based non-profit organization, seeks adult volunteers, 50 years and older, to mentor high-risk youth at the Northern Virginia Juvenile detention Home in Alexandria. Volunteers are also needed to serve as youth advisory council leaders and community service project leaders for a program that serves terminally and seriously ill children at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Meditation. Every weekday noon-1 p.m., Roberts Memorial Methodist Church, 606 South Washington St., is open to the public for meditation. Organ music is played during this time.

AWANA is an international, non-denominational, Bible centered youth organization providing weekly clubs and programs for ages three-year-old through high school.
