<sh>Armed Robbery in Chantilly

<bt>Fairfax County police are looking for two armed men who entered an unlocked home in Chantilly last week and robbed four people at gunpoint. The incident occurred last Thursday, Feb. 22, around 12:30 a.m., in the 4100 block of Dawn Valley Court in the Brookside community.

Police say the intruders demanded and received cash and other personal items, and one suspect fired two rounds in the air — possibly from a cap gun or air gun — before fleeing. The victims, two men and two women ranging in age from 19-21, were not injured.

The suspects are described as black and in their early 20s. One was about 6 feet 1 inch and 175 pounds and wore all- black clothes and a hooded sweatshirt. The other was 5 feet 10 inches and 175 pounds. He wore dark gray clothes and a hooded sweatshirt.

Le

<sh>Tempers Flare; Arrest Follows

<bt>A South Riding man was arrested Saturday after an alleged road-rage incident in Chantilly. According to Fairfax County police, Allan Tat Le, 29, of 42685 Rolling Rock Square, was driving that afternoon in the 14700 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway when he and another driver — a 41-year-old Aldie man — began arguing.

Le followed the driver to that road's intersection with Stonecroft Boulevard and pulled alongside. The car's passenger window was open and, say police, Le reportedly threw a cup full of coffee at the passenger, a 32-year-old Aldie woman.

Le and the driver then got into a physical confrontation and Le got back inside his car and drove away. However, the alleged victims called police and followed Le in their car until officers arrived. No one was injured. Police charged Le with a felony —unlawfully throwing a missile at an occupied vehicle — and took him to the Adult Detention Center.

<sh>Grand Jury Indicts Rogers

<bt>A Fairfax County grand jury last week indicted a man accused of robbing three banks here. He is Geoffrey Rogers, 41, of Paducah, Ky. He and co-defendant Ronald Michael Young, 35, of Manassas, were arrested April 16, 2006, and charged in connection with the following 2006 robberies:

* March 17 — United Bank, 13060 Fair Lakes Shopping Center in Fairfax.

* March 28 — BB&T Bank, 13821 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy. in Chantilly.

* March 30 — Virginia Commerce Bank, 13881 Metrotech Drive in Chantilly.

Authorities have surveillance photos of the robber from each bank, and police believe Rogers committed the actual robberies and Young drove the getaway car. Police also say Rogers allegedly confessed to robbing each of these banks.

Following Rogers' indictment by the grand jury last Tuesday, Feb. 20, he was slated to enter a plea to each charge this Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Circuit Court.

<sh>Hugo to Teens — "Hang Up and Drive"

<bt>The Virginia House of Delegates approved a bill last Wednesday, Feb. 21, that would prohibit teen-agers from using their cell phones while driving, which safety advocates say would reduce accidents.

The Senate has approved a nearly identical measure promoted by Sen. Jay O'Brien (R-39th), so the cell-phone ban proposal went to Gov. Tim Kaine, who is expected to sign it. If Kaine does approve the ban, Virginia will join the District, Maryland and 11 other states that bar teens from using a phone while driving.

Under the bill, drivers ages 15, 16 and 17 would not be able to talk, send text messages or snap photos with a phone while on Virginia roads.

The ban would also apply to hands-free devices, but would allow teens to use a phone during an emergency. The legislation originated with Northern Virginia lawmakers. Said Del. Tim Hugo (R-40th): "We are saying, 'Hang up and drive.'"
