McLean Children Help Grant Wishes

Ten children from McLean turned out for the 20th annual Make-A-Wish Kids Triathlon recently. The event brought the community together at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Silver Spring, Md. where more than 150 children ages 5 to 14 participated in the swim, bike and run competition. The triathlon raised more than $50,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Kids Triathlon is a “kids-helping-kids” event where children participate in an athletic event and raise pledges to help make wishes come true for area children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Participating McLean children include: Madison Ball, Hilary Brown, Emily Kelly, Damian Leverett, Teddy Mundy, Alexa Slotkoff, Meredith Elgin, Katherine Monroe, Carenna Slotkoff, and Kelly Monroe. Damian, Teddy and Alexa (the Purple Cows #54) won third place in the relay group for 11- to 12-year-olds. Katherine (#12) won second in triathlon for 11-12 female age group. Kelly (#217) won first in triathlon for 9-10 female age group.
