William Claybrook Shell III, a senior at Hampden-Sydney College, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester. He is a graduate of St. Stephens & St. Agnes School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. William Shell, Jr. of Alexandria.

Caroline Marion Habliston, a freshman at Washington and Lee University, has earned honor roll status for the fall term. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Habliston IV, of Alexandria.

Residents of Alexandria enrolled at Northern Virginia Community College have been named to the 2007 edition of "Who's Who in American Junior Colleges."

* Business Administration students Viktoriya Sharkova and Helen Yi

* Liberal Arts/Speech Communications student Jesse Woods

Owen C. McAleer of Alexandria was on the honor roll for Phillips Exeter Academy. He is the son of Ysabel and Charles F.B. McAleer, Jr.

Abigail Martin and Maren Paslick of Alexandria were selected as scholarship finalists by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

Abigail L. Crispin, daughter of William Crispin and Marureen Mahoney of Alexandria, received dean’s lists honors at Bates College for the fall semester. Crispin is a senior art and visual culture major, and a 2002 graduate of St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes’ School.

Owen C. McAleer of Alexandria, an eleventh grader at Phillips Exeter Academy, has earned High Honors for their winter term. McAleer, son of Ysabel Burns McAleer and Charles F.B. McAleer Jr., is in his third year at the independent secondary school in Exeter, NH.

Elizabeth R. Trenga, daughter of Anthony Trenga and Rita Flor Cruz of Palmer Place in Alexandria, has been named to the Merit List at Kenyon College for the first semester of the 2006-2007 academic year.

Daniel Ring and Kate Loveless, both of whom attended Blessed Sacrament School, received a bachelor of science with distinction degree in psychology in the honors program at James Madison University. They are both of Alexandria.

Jacob Patterson-Stein, 2003 graduate of T.C. Williams graduated cum laude May 5 from Miami University of Ohio.

Hillard McMorris, of Mount Vernon, received a bachelor of science degree from Coastal Carolina University.

Katherine Roeder of Alexandria was named one of eight graduate student winners of the 2007 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship. Roeder is one of eight graduate students from around the Commonwealth to be awarded the $6,000 fellowship toward future studies in art history.

The following students have been selected as orientation leaders at Virginia Tech for fall 2007.

* Zebib Bahta, a sophomore from Alexandria, Va., is majoring in communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

* Jonathan Politte, a sophomore from Alexandria, is majoring in marketing in the Pamplin College of Business.

Geoffrey Adams, of Alexandria, a senior majoring in biological sciences and physics has recently been awarded the Undergraduate Research Award by the College of Science for the 2006-2007 academic year. Geoffrey Adams carried out Monte Carlo simulations to study population dynamics models with Uwe Täuber, a professor in the Department of Physics.

Sarah Chilton, a political science major and international studies minor from Alexandria, graduated from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., on Saturday, June 2. She is a 2003 graduate of West Potomac High School in Alexandria and is the daughter of Scott and Sonia Chilton.

Ryan Hogan, an economics and business major from Alexandria, graduated from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., on Saturday, June 2. During his time at Randolph-Macon, Hogan was named Greek Man of the Year for 2007. He also was the Inter-Fraternity Council President, and a member of the College Republicans group and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He played baseball for R-MC in 2003-2004. Hogan is a 2003 graduate of Bishop Ireton High School, and the son of William and Victoria Hogan of Alexandria.

Jill Marie Homiak, daughter of John Homiak of Alexandria, graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., with a degree in business, organizations and society with a minor in Italian.

Grace M. Dobbyn, the daughter of Dyan Donaldson and Paul Spring Road and John Dobbyn of Mount Vernon Landing, has been named to the Dean's List at Hamilton College for the 2007 Spring semester. A risisng senior majoring in sociology at Hamilton, Dobbyn is a graduate of Georgetown Visitation Prep School.

Ahrielle F. Cook, daughter of Mr. Theron D. Cook and Mrs. Claire R. Cook of Alexandria, graduated from Amherst College with a double major in English and Spanish.

Jelle Pouwel Wiersma of Alexandria received an associate of science degree from Western Wyoming Community College during the college's May 18 commencement ceremony.
