The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) has a March 31 deadline for nominations to be submitted for its first Green Business Awards program. Judging will be conducted in April by an awards committee consisting of volunteers from LWC membership. Awards will be handed out in May at LWC's annual meeting. The purpose of the awards is to recognize businesses that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in habitat protection in Loudoun County on an annual basis.

The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) announced that its GAP Fund invested $70,000 in South49 Solutions LLC, a provider of business technology services based in Sterling. The investment will facilitate expansion of the company’s product offerings and Web-based software platform.

Local doctor Vishal Verma, D.C., was recently published in Chiropractic Products magazine for his use of the latest technology in chiropractic medicine. Chiropractic Products is one of the top three magazines in the profession.

IHOP, Starbucks Coffee and Potbelly Sandwich Works recently opened in the Ashburn Crossfields Restaurant Park, an 8-acre project developed by Keane Enterprises of Ashburn. the park is part of the larger Ashburn Crossroads development, located at the intersection of Ashburn Village Boulevard and Farmwell Road. Fuddruckers and Bertucci's are scheduled to open later in the year.

Brainware Inc., whose “intelligent” data capture and search software automates the high-speed processing of critical data from documents and other information sources, recently relocated its U.S. headquarters from the Dulles Town Center area to Ashburn, doubling its office space in the process. The company is now located in the new Ashbrook Office Park, located across Route 7 from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI).

Access National Bank announces the opening of its newest banking center in Leesburg located at 300 Fort Evans Road, N.E., Suite 103, Leesburg. The opening marks the bank's fourth regional office designed to serve small- and medium-sized businesses and professionals.

Bookseller Barnes & Noble plans to open its first retail store in Loudoun at Brambleton's Town Center. Anticipated plans call for an opening next year.

The 2007 Loudoun Wine Trail brochure is now available at wineries, the Loudoun Convention and Visitors Association Office, Leesburg Corner Outlets and many other locations. The brochure lists the 12 local wineries in the last year’s brochure and adds Loudoun’s newest winery, Fabbioli Cellars in Lucketts. By the end of this year, Notaviva Vineyards in Purcellville and Bluemont Vineyard will also be open, boosting the number of Loudoun wineries to 15.
