Memorial Day. County holiday.

Ceremony at Great Falls Freedom Memorial. At 11 a.m., the Friends of the Great Falls Freedom Memorial will host a Memorial Day service, in remembrance for those who have died defending the nation. Brig. Gen. Vincente Blaz, USMC, Ret., will be the keynote speaker and share officiating duties with Dranesville Supervisor Joan DuBois. The Freedom Memorial is located on the grounds of the Great Falls Library, at 9830 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls. Call Bob Pattavina at 703-759-7727 with questions.

Vienna Memorial Day Ceremony. Part of the Viva! Vienna! festival, there will be a ceremony noon on the main stage, on Church Street. The Vienna Choral Society will sing a Memorial Day tribute and the Vienna Police Department Color Guard will present the town’s colors. Town government and other local dignitaries, including U.S. Rep. Tom Davis and Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerry Connolly, will offer brief remarks in recognition of the day and event.
