Seniors Go Cruisin’ in the Park

"Now get yourself in gear

Oh baby come on

Still cruisin’ after all of these years …"

Those lyrics from The Beach Boys’ "Still Cruisin’" capture the spirit of this year’s Loudoun County’s Senior Citizens Day, scheduled for Friday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at J.R.’s Festival Lakes, 42830 Ft. Evans Road in Leesburg.

The theme this year is "Cruisin’ in the Park," as the event will feature dancing, food and an ongoing antique car show presented by Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an antique car show will be held, featuring some classic models from the last 50 years. At 9:45 a.m., the Gotta Dance Troupe will perform, followed by "Dancing With the Stars" at 10:30, which will feature swing dance with music by the Loudoun Valley High School Viking Jazz Ensemble.

From noon to 1 p.m., there will be a catered luncheon featuring marinated boneless chicken, beef barbecue, sandwiches, salads and beverages. Then, at 1 p.m., the Junior Women’s Club sponsors a huge bingo extravaganza to close out Senior Day.

There is a $5 registration fee for the event. Visit www.loudoun.gov/prcs or call 703-430-2397 for more information about registration and schedules.
