La Voz of Loudoun, a 501 (c)(3) grassroots community-based organization dedicated to assisting Loudoun’s Hispanic and immigrant communities, is seeking qualified and committed individuals interested in serving on the board of directors. Interested individuals must be able to commit to attending one evening board meeting per month and must commit to serving on one sub-committee that will most likely meet once a month as well. On Sunday, June 3, Jone Johnson Lewis, leader of the Northern Virginia Ethical Society, will present, "What's So Funny About the News?" Television shows such as the "Colbert Report" and Jon Stewart's "Daily Show" explain news and issues with humor. Studies show that Daily Show viewers are among the most knowledgeable citizens about current events. What's the role of humor in telling the news and getting to the core of issues? MADD Loudoun announces the new MADD Loudoun Victim Support Groups for families/significant others who have been impacted by a drunk-driving crash. The group is for families, significant others who lost a loved one, for injured survivors and their families. The Loudoun Walking and Volkssport Club invites the public to check out its self-guided year-round walks. The club offers eight walks in the county that can be done any day at just about any time. The Senior Center at Cascades Marketplace, 21060 Whitfield Place, Sterling, has a walking club, which meets Thursday mornings, at 10:30 a.m. Walks take place outside, so wear loose comfortable clothing and sneakers. In case of inclement weather, walkers will be transported to the Dulles Town Center to walk around the "track."
