<sh>United Methodist Hosts Russian Choir

<bt>The Herndon United Methodist Church will host the Kurgon Junior Chamber Choir on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m., on its last stop of a U.S. tour before returning to Russia. Members of the choir will be staying with host families in the Herndon area. Trips to a bowling alley with the congregation’s youth group and Mt. Vernon are planned for the Russian guests. The performance sets the stage for another group from Russia, the St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble, which will perform on Dec. 18.

<sh>Arts and Crafts Show

<bt>The 29th Annual Herndon Holiday Arts and Crafts Show will take place on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Herndon Community Center, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One hundred artisans and craftspeople will exhibit and sell their work at the event sponsored by the Town of Herndon Department of Parks and Recreation. Items will include wreaths, quilts, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, decorations, original artwork and photography. Visitors are encouraged not to bring in strollers during the show due to limited space. Admission is free and refreshments will be available for purchase.

<sh>Leaf Collection Extended

<bt>Leaf collection throughout the Town of Herndon has been extended through Dec. 21, due to lateness of the leaf falling season this year. Citizens may pile leaves by the curbside without bagging them during that period. Any leaves collected after Dec. 21 must be bagged for pickup. Leaves should be raked as close as possible to the curb, without blocking storm drains or sidewalks or impeding vehicular traffic.

<sh>Homeownership Seminar

<bt>The Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center and National Realty will host a free homeownership seminar on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center located at 1086 Elden Street in the Dulles Park Shopping Center. The topics will include how to take advantage of a buyer’s market, alternatives to foreclosure and short sales.

<sh>‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ at Herndon

<bt>Herndon High School theater department is putting on an underclassmen production of "Peter Pan and Wendy" next week, providing an opportunity for parents to introduce their children to theater. There will be autograph opportunities after the performances. Performances will be held on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Herndon High School.
