<b>New and Upcoming Exhibits

</b> Art Whino will open a gallery at 717 N. Saint Asaph St. Derrick Wolbaum will be the solo artist. The exhibit runs from Oct. 19-30. Free. 703-462-4135.

New exhibitions showcasing the works of two artists are on display in the galleries at the Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center, 1605 Cameron St., and the City Manager’s Gallery, 301 King St. Acrylic and oil paintings by Nihal Kececi will be on exhibit at the Durant Center through Oct. 31; monotypes and oil on paper by Betsy Anderson will be featured at the City Manager’s Gallery through Jan. 6, 2008. Gallery Indigo, 1607 King St. in Old Town, Alexandria, will exhibit the works of award-winning mixed media artist Ann Elder Hess through Oct. 9. Several of Hess' pieces will be available for sale at the gallery and orders will be taken for custom pieces like "Time In A Bottle" which incorporates family photographs. "Salon Eight Presents: an Exhibition of Painting," a new art exhibit featuring landscapes, still life's and an array of botanical subjects will be on display at the American Horticultural Society's River Farm, 7931 East Boulevard Drive, through Jan. 4.
