The Loudoun County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a Virginia Gardener Shortcourse. The Shortcourse is a condensed version of the training that Trainees who are new members of the Master Gardener Volunteer program receive. The Shortcourse is held in the Loudoun Cooperative Extension conference room at 30-B Catoctin Circle, SE (Wachovia Bank Building), Leesburg. The sessions are from 6-8:30 p.m. and are spread throughout the year. Dates for this year are: Oct. 25, and Nov. 8. Participants may sign up for individual sessions or for all eight. Sign, Say and Play, ages birth-3 years. Designed for parents and children. Interactive play class highlights signs that are most important in the lives of babies. An "Understanding Your Teenager" seminar will be held Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Ashburn Presbyterian Church, 20962 Ashburn Road, Ashburn. The seminar runs from 2-5 p.m. Duffy Robbins, Youth Ministry Professor from Eastern University, will present principles for building good relationships with teenagers. Family Conversations with Older Drivers, Monday, Nov. 5, 7-8:30 p.m., Ashburn Library, 43316 Hay Road, Ashburn. Loudoun County residents are invited to attend an informational seminar hosted by the AARP and Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers. Recognize warning signs indicating when older drivers may need to stop driving. Learn about developing transportation options for older drivers. Cost is free, but registration required. The Leesburg Police Department and the Loudoun County Gang Response Intervention Team (GRIT) are teaming up to host a training for parents regarding Internet safety for children.
