Air Force Airman Fuad Mohammednur has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Abdulkadir Mohammednur of Alexandria and a 2005 graduate of Annandale High School.

Brendan K. McKeague has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. McKeague is a student at Providence College, R.I. and is the son of Kelly K. and Nancy McKeague of Alexandria. He graduated from a home school program in 2005.

Army Reserve Pvt. Michael S. Boutin has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Michael C. Boutin of Mount Vernon, and nephew of Michael R. Collins of Pine Cone Trail, Kingston, Tenn. Boutin is a 2007 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.

Army Pvt. Vasili Ivanov has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the nephew of Marji Geer of Alexandria. Ivanov is a 2003 graduate of South Lakes High School.

Army Pfc. Edward J. Gerena has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Maria Gerena of Alexandria.

Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Gwendolyn Champ has returned to the U.S. after being deployed to an overseas forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Champ, a renovation sergeant, is a member of the 442nd Quartermaster Company based in Bellefonte, Pa. The reservist has served in the military for more than 20 years. She graduated in 1979 from T.C. Williams High School.

Army Spec. Kevin P. Gebo Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.He is the son of Kevin Gebo of Alexandria and Joan Gebo of Tallahassee, Fla. Gebo graduated in 2001 from Leon High School, Tallahassee, and earned a master's degree in 2007 from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Army Pvt. John N. Dodson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. Dodson is a 1996 graduate of T.C. Williams High School.

Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Charles B. Coffman, a 1997 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, recently reported for duty with Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron One, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. Coffman joined the Marine Corps in June 1997.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Jessica B. Bonilla has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Cristobal Bonilla of Alexandria, and Leonor Garcia of Woodbridge. Bonilla is a 2007 graduate of West Potomac High School.

Air Force Airman Jeffrey A. Pratt has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Roger and Cheryl Pratt of Alexandria. Pratt is a 2002 graduate of Thomas Edison High School.

Army Spec. Corey J. Lott has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Lott is the son of James R. Lott III of Alexandria, and Lelia M. Lott of Chesapeake, Va. The specialist graduated in the year 2000 from Oscar Smith High School, Chesapeake, and received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Norfolk State University.

Air Force Airman Damien S. Nikolao has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Rudy Nikolao of Mount Vernon, and Jillene MacCreery of McLean. Nikolao is a 2006 graduate of West Potomac High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. John B. Sturgill, son of Mirta and Willard Sturgill of Alexandria, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Yonathan Melaku, son of Abeba G. Yohannes and Menkir E. Melaku of Alexandria, Va., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

Marine Corps Pvt. Oscar O. Martinez, son of Apavicia C. Martinez and stepson of Mario R. Gonzales of Alexandria, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

Army Reserve Pvt. Kwabena A. Ohemeng-Agyei has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the brother of Kwabena Ohemeng Agyei of Alexandria.

Marine Corps Pfc. Christopher M. Counts, son of Mary J. and Kenneth L. Counts of Alexandria, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Army Pvt. David P. Selby has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the grandson of Marian Selby of Alexandria, and Catherine Barber of John St., Suitland, Md. Selby is a 2004 graduate of Thomas Edison High School, Alexandria.

Navy Seaman Jermie D. Harris, a 2000 graduate of West Potomac High School, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Air Force Airman Hasan Bilal has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Bilal is the nephew of Mohammad Ali of Arlington.

Paul Chenevert has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army National Guard. Chenevert, an infantry operations officer with 19 years of military service, is assigned to the 29th Infantry Division, Fort Belvoir, Fairfax, Va. His wife, Michelle, resides in Alexandria. The captain graduated in 1989 from Catholic High School, Baton Rouge, La., and received a bachelor's degree in 1996 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge.

Marine Corps Pvt. Geoffrey L. Hughes, son of Vicki L. and John V. Hughes of Alexandria, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.

Alexandria resident Patricia Bayliss Owens ’62 was awarded the Alumni Medallion from the William and Mary Alumni Association

Marine Corps Pvt. Taytra T. Todd, daughter of Georgia T. Todd of Alexandria, recently completed the Marine Corps Basic Enlisted Supply Course. Todd is a 2006 graduate of The Potomac School of Mc Lean, and joined the Marine Corps in July 2007.

Army National Guard Spec. Joshua A. Price has returned to 116th Brigade Special Troop Brigade, National Guard Station, Fredericksburg, Va., after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Price, a cannon crewmember with two years of military service. He is the son of Andrea K. and Eugene R. Price of Alexandria and received an associate degree in 2006 from Norwich University, Northfield.
