Ruffin-Pratt Named Parade All-American

As if being the No. 2 rated junior and All-Met Player of the Year wasn’t enough, Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added another honor recently, being named the first-ever player from T.C. Williams to Parade magazine’s 2008 All-America High School Girls Basketball First Team.

She was also selected as the Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year, All-State, All-Northern Region and All-Patriot District.

Ruffin-Pratt, who is the school’s all-time leading scorer averaged 26 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists per game, leading the Titans to a 22-1 record and their third straight Patriot District title.

This past weekend, Ruffin-Pratt’s AAU team was defeated 54-49 in the finals by T. Jackson Elite — led by standout recruits Odyssey Sims and Brittney Griner — in the Battle of the Best tournament in Hampton, Va. The T.C. Williams standout plays the the Boo Williams Summer League 16-and-under girls team.

Ruffin-Pratt has been offered scholarships by virtually every Division I program, with the University of North Carolina, Duke, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas and UConn among the notables.

Normally tight-lipped, Ruffin-Pratt said last week that she would likely narrow her college choices by the end of July.
